Abstract

|
Ossification of the anterior longitudinal ligament of the spine was first reported by Dr. Forestier and Dr. Rotes¢¥ in 1950. However, in no other countries but japan there have been reports on the ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament of the spine which was first reported by Tsukimoto7¢¥ in 1960.
About 45% of ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament Hof the spine have a combination of ossification of the anterior longitudinal ligament and yet it is considered to be a variety of the spinal geriatric conditions, favorable to the cervical spine. The condition develops similar symptoms of cervical spondylosis.
Authors report two cases of ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament of cervical spine of Korean nationals at St. Mary¢¥s hospital, Catholic Medical College.
